We are excited to share an important milestone in our journey. FaunaPhotonics is now evolito.
This rebrand reflects how far we have come and where we are heading: becoming an enterprise partner for automated biodiversity monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV).
Why we rebranded
The biodiversity compliance market is evolving quickly, with more than 50,000 companies in Europe and North America now in scope for mandatory reporting under frameworks such as CSRD (ESRS), with other voluntary reporting schemes rapidly gaining traction, most notably the TNFD and SBTN biodiversity frameworks. For businesses, this means ecosystem health is no longer optional: it is material to accessing capital, as a license to operate, and for ensuring long-term competitiveness and enhanced productivity. Those unable to provide credible biodiversity data risk delayed permitting, regulatory penalties, reputational damage, and much more. At the same time, new opportunities are opening as biodiversity and nature-blended credit markets emerge, offering companies a way to turn restoration outcomes into tangible business value.
Our new identity, evolito, is built to meet this moment.
“Our company’s transition builds on over a decade of science-led innovation. With biodiversity rapidly becoming a central, strategic theme for global enterprises, evolito is ready to assist organizations in their journey to generate simple, measurable, and monetizable outcomes. Natural ecosystems are extremely complex and very challenging to measure with consistency to demonstrate change and value. evolito’s mission is to make biodiversity simple and measurable, such that data insights can be actioned and communicated with clarity at scale,” shares Richard Blundell, CEO of evolito.
Why insects?
Our technology is the result of more than a decade of scientific research. Using patented sensors and AI, we monitor insect activity continuously and translate it into four biodiversity metrics: abundance, biomass, diversity, and activity.
Insects are a reliable proxy for ecosystem health. Their presence and activity reflect key services such as pollination, soil quality and food webs. This means organizations can track biodiversity uplift with accuracy and confidence.
To fly and evolve
“Our new name is grounded in both science and ambition, ” says Richard. “Volito (Latin for ‘to fly’) connects to the insect wingbeats at the core of our technology. The name is also inspired by evolve and evolution. We believe biodiversity intelligence and the health of natural ecosystems are going to unpin the future growth of the global economy,” he concludes.
With our new brand, we are scaling long-term monitoring across energy, agriculture, forestry and restoration projects, and preparing for the next stage of growth.
The complexity of biodiversity has long been a barrier to action. Our mission at evolito is to make it simple, measurable, and verifiable, so organizations can meet compliance requirements and demonstrate real improvements in nature.
